Quiz Island — Privacy Policy
Island Solutions · Effective 1 October 2026 · Applies to the Quiz Island app on Google Play
Quiz Island lets a teacher run live quiz games that students answer on their own phones over the classroom Wi-Fi or the teacher's hotspot. The quiz server runs on the teacher's own phone. This policy explains what the app handles, where it goes, and your choices.
1. Quizzes and results stay on your phone
Your quizzes, attached PDFs, players' nicknames, answers, scores and past results are saved only in the app's private storage on your phone. Island Solutions does not operate a server that receives them, and we cannot see them.
2. When information leaves your phone
- Students on the same Wi-Fi. Students' phones connect directly to your phone over your local network to see questions and send answers.
- AI essay grading (optional). Only if you enter your own Google Gemini API key and use it, the essay answers being graded and your rubric are sent to Google's Gemini service. Google's terms and privacy policy apply.
- Remote gateway (optional). Only if you turn it on, the app opens a public internet link through a third-party tunnel service (loca.lt) so students outside your Wi-Fi can join. Pages opened through that link pass through that service. Turn it off when you don't need it.
- Files you share. Results and answer sheets you save go to your phone's Downloads folder; if you choose Share, they go wherever you send them.
- Android backup. If Android backup is on for your Google account, Android may include your Quiz Island data in your own Google account backup. This is handled by Google, not by us.
3. Purchases
The one-time unlock and the yearly plan are sold through Google Play. Google processes the payment; we never receive your card, GCash or bank details. The app asks Google Play only whether you have unlocked it.
4. No ads, no tracking
Quiz Island has no advertising, no analytics and no tracking SDKs, and we do not sell or share personal information.
5. Permissions
- Camera, only when you scan answer sheets.
- Notifications, to show that Quiz Island is running while students are connected.
- Network access, so students' phones can connect and optional online features work.
6. Students' data
Quiz Island is meant for teachers. Students join with a nickname they type; the teacher and school decide what is collected and remain responsible for it under the Philippine Data Privacy Act of 2012 (RA 10173) and DepEd policies.
7. Keeping and deleting data
Your quizzes and results stay on your phone until you delete them in the app, clear the app's storage, or uninstall the app. Because we don't hold your data, there is nothing for us to delete on our side.
8. Changes and contact
We will post any changes on this page with a new effective date. Questions: jedylonagum@gmail.com.
