Class Island — Privacy Policy
Island Solutions · Effective 29 September 2026 · Applies to the Class Island app on Google Play
Class Island is a classroom-records app for teachers. It is built so that your class records stay on your own phone. This policy explains what the app handles, where it goes, and your choices.
1. Records you enter stay on your phone
Sections, learners (names, LRNs, sex, addresses, photos), grades, attendance, quizzes, lesson materials, templates and school settings are saved only in the app's private storage on your phone. Island Solutions does not operate a server that receives these records, and we cannot see them.
2. When information leaves your phone
- Students on the same Wi-Fi. When you run a quiz or open the student portal, learners' devices connect directly to your phone over your local network. Each learner sees only what you make available.
- AI essay grading and AI writing help (optional). Only if you enter your own Google Gemini API key and use these features, the text being graded or written (for example a learner's essay and your rubric) is sent to Google's Gemini service. Google's terms and privacy policy apply to that processing.
- "Go Online" (optional). Only if you turn it on, the app opens a public internet link through a third-party tunnel service (loca.lt) so learners outside your Wi-Fi can reach your phone. Pages opened through that link pass through that service. Turn it off when you don't need it.
- Files you share. Forms and files you save go to your phone's Downloads folder. If you choose Share, they go wherever you send them (for example Messenger, Gmail or Google Drive).
- Android backup. If Android backup is on for your Google account, Android may include your Class Island records in your own Google account backup so they can be restored on a new phone. This is handled by Google, not by us.
3. Subscription
Subscriptions are sold through Google Play. Google processes the payment; we never receive your card, GCash or bank details. The app asks Google Play only whether your subscription is active.
4. No ads, no tracking
Class Island has no advertising, no analytics and no tracking SDKs, and we do not sell or share personal information.
5. Permissions
- Camera, only when you scan answer sheets or take a learner photo.
- Notifications, to show that Class Island is running while students are connected.
- Network access, so learners' devices can connect and optional online features work.
6. Learners' data and the Data Privacy Act
Class Island is meant for teachers, not children. The teacher and school decide what learner information is entered and remain responsible for it as personal information controllers under the Philippine Data Privacy Act of 2012 (RA 10173) and DepEd policies. Please protect your phone with a screen lock and use the app's own passwords.
7. Keeping and deleting data
Your records stay on your phone until you delete them in the app, clear the app's storage, or uninstall the app. Uninstalling removes them from the phone, so download or share anything you need first. Because we don't hold your records, there is nothing for us to delete on our side.
8. Not a government app
Class Island is an independent app by Island Solutions. It follows DepEd forms and orders but is not made, endorsed or operated by the Department of Education.
